Mission Statement:
Welcome to The Waterbury Observer, an independent newspaper taking an in-depth look at the people, issues and events in the Brass City.
The Observer is published every month in a format that allows us to photograph and write feature stories that look and read like magazine journalism.
The Observer has no political agenda and does not endorse political candidates. Our goal is to bring information to our readers that is unfiltered and unlayered, information needed to cast an informed vote.
In addition, the Observer jams a flashlight into the shadows of Waterbury to illuminate people and issues often overlooked by the local mainstream media; AIDS, homelessness, battered women, Hispanics, Blacks and Democrats.
The Observer attempts to give voice to the voiceless, and is unlike anything ever published in Waterbury before. Enjoy the ride!

Publisher and Editor - John Murray
Murray began his journalism career photographing commercial fishing boats in southeast Alaska. He worked at the Litchfield Enquirer and the Register-Citizen before helping to launch the Observer in October 1993. Sales and Marketing- Maureen Griffin
Griffin has spent her career working in graphic design and marketing. Griffin joined the Observer in 1996 and her versatility has been instrumental in the newspaper's success. Sales and Marketing - Jesse Grant
Jesse joined the Observer in 1994 and used his insights and knowledge about marketing to help the fledgling newspaper burst onto the local scene.
