Shave Against Cancer
  The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, has issued a lofty challenge to everyone who wants to help raise money for childhood cancer research: Be a hero for kids with cancer by shaving your head in return for pledges of financial support from friends and family.

Carbon Monoxide Tests In Schools
   Rep. Jeff Berger (D-Waterbury) testified in front of the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Security in support of a bill h¥e authored that requires carbon monoxide detectors in all public schools. The bill was in response to an incident that occurred recently in one of the public elementary schools in his hometown of Waterbury where a faulty heating flue caused a carbon monoxide leak that sickened at least 40 children and one teacher.

Radio Debut
   The Chase Collegiate Varsity boys basketball game will be broadcast on WATR radio Feb 14th at 7 pm. Chase head coach Paul Vance said “It’s our first game ever on WATR and it’s breast cancer awareness night.”

The Singing Nuns

The Abbey of Regina Laudis is home to forty Benedictine nuns in Bethlehem, CT. The nuns made a rare appearance outside the Abbey on December 4th when six nuns from their Scola performed sacred music at The John Bale Book Company in downtown Waterbury. Pictured above is Sister Elizabeth, who was a law professor before joining the cloistered community.

Brass Torch 2004-2009

STAYWELL MOVING
StayWell Health Center purchased The Phoenix Professional Plaza earlier this year and will merge the 232 North Elm Street with the existing site at 80 Phoenix Avenue to form one larger North End site. Wednesday, November 15th will be the last day patients will be seen at the 232 North Elm Street site and StayWell will begin moving into their new site on November 16th.
