Tony Guerriero New Board President

Welcome to Main Street Waterbury.  The month of June is always such a busy month.  Between summer break for the schools, graduations, father’s day, and other activities, there is much to do.  For Main Street Waterbury, there are three significant events happening in the month of June.

Main Street Waterbury By Carl Rosa April 2011

Invite The Artists

Welcome to April and the possibility of a full month…..without snow.  Can you believe it? I’m not sure I can because although it is Spring, it feels like the winter that won’t go away.

I’m forcing myself to think warm spring thoughts. It does work! When I think of spring though, I also think of clean-up and specifically cleaning up downtown. I won’t continue with my litter rant from last month’s column except to say that Waterbury will be celebrating Earth Day with a city-wide cleanup on Saturday, May 14th. Groups and individuals interested in helping can go to the Sears Automotive Parking lot on Union Street at 9AM to pick up bags and gloves before embarking to the areas they intend on cleaning. We’ll be doing our part to clean up downtown Waterbury that day, and I encourage anyone interested in helping us to call my office.

The Slobs Among Us

As the snow begins to melt at long last in our community, what’s being revealed underneath is somewhat of an unsightly mess. That’s right; the litterers have been very busy during the winter. Don’t get me wrong, the overwhelming majority of Waterburians are fine upstanding citizens. However, there is an element; a percentage of our populace that are to put it bluntly, lazy slobs.

Main Street Waterbury December 2010

Wed, 12/01/2010 - 04:00

Governor Elect Dan Malloy is certainly facing some tough challenges as he starts his new administration. He inherits a pretty sizeable budget deficit, a state roiling in a sluggish economy that is perceived by many to be “non-business friendly”, and very high unemployment, particularly in our region of Connecticut.

Main Street Waterbury DECEMBER 2007

Happy Holidays to you all from Main Street Waterbury. I love this time of year in Downtown Waterbury. The City Center looks absolutely beautiful with bright holiday lights, newly installed pole banners, and decorated merchant windows. It is a great place to walk around and enjoy the spirit of the season.

Main Street Waterbury November 2007

Thu, 11/01/2007 - 03:00

Welcome to Main Street Waterbury! Calling all Boomers! Calling all Boomers!! That’s right, we should be shouting that out as far and wide as we can. In the next 10 years 40 million Baby Boomers in this country will reach retirement age. They might have some money to spend, that’s for sure. But what do they want? What will they do when they retire? Where will they go? Do we really know?

Main Street Waterbury OCTOBER 2007

Mon, 10/01/2007 - 03:00

Welcome to Main Street Waterbury. Well here we are in the autumn of the Year. So far, it has been a great year for Downtown Waterbury with more good things on the way. The Brass City Brew Fest was once again a smash hit this year. Attendance more than doubled from last year. People visited Library Park in Downtown Waterbury from as far away as North Carolina, Brattleboro, Vermont and everywhere in-between, to follow their favorite micro-brew. I dare say this tradition may last for years to come.

Main Street Waterbury September 2007

Sat, 09/01/2007 - 03:00

Where has this summer gone? It seems as if it has flown buy. I must say though, that much has gone on in downtown Waterbury this past summer with many great events and more to come. One event in particular promises to bring thousands to downtown and that is the second annual Brass City Brew Fest. It is scheduled for September 15th from 1-5PM at Library Park. This year we’re also featuring a Classic Car show on the same date at the same location starting at 11AM that same day.
