Belcanto: Tenors of the 78 Era at the Silas Bronson Library at 6:30pm. Before there were Pavarotti, Domingo and Carreras, there were Carso, Gigli and Slezak. Mario Rossi, singer, voice coach and music lover, who founded and runs the Waterbury Opera Club at the Silas Bronson Library, presents the opera greats of the past in the first part of the video series “Belcanto: The Tenors of the 78 Era.” The title refers to the old grooved vinyl records that spun on a turntable under a needle at 78 revolutions per minute. The program is free and open to the public.
